Painting when the mimosas bloom
From 27 January to 1 February 2027 we invite you to our own house: the Villa Notre Dame des Fleurs in Grasse. The occasion is the Fête du Mimosa in nearby Tanneron — when the hills glow yellow, we paint landscape in the broadest sense, and above all: mimosas.
→Small group
The group stays deliberately small: at most five course places. You stay in five individually bookable units: room 1 with its own bathroom, rooms 2 and 3 sharing a bathroom, plus the apartment below with a bedroom (double bed) and a salon (comfortable sofa bed), which share the apartment's bathroom.
→What the course includes
4 days of tuition, 2 meals a day, teaching materials, painting supplies (see materials list), transport to and from the airport on 27 January and 1 February.
→Companions
If your partner would like to come along, even without painting, he or she is warmly welcome — but would need to organise their own days and is best off renting a car. There's plenty to see here, and it's a popular area for hiking and road cycling.
For a companion who does not join the course we charge €200 instead of the €100 per-person fee — the room price stays the same.

Philipp & Juliane von Kunhardt
Philipp and Juliane are passionate hosts. With their four children out of the house, they have time to share their love of creativity with friends. They love bringing people together — and creating a joyful setting in which each person can flourish.
As we won't be engaging a cook for this Art Retreat, we keep the catering simple: a French breakfast is laid out every morning. At midday there's a light meal, and the third meal we combine with an outing to a restaurant (with sketchbook, of course 📔🖌️). Everyone covers the cost of this third meal themselves.
The programme will follow
The programme for Grasse is not yet fixed — it will follow the same pattern: a talk in the morning, practice afterwards, the critique in the evening. It will appear here as soon as it is settled.
Good to know
→Do I need painting experience?
Experience helps, but beginners are welcome and will fill their travel sketchbook creatively. Advanced painters who want to work independently will find endless inspiration in the landscape — with critique from Juliane on request.
→What should I bring?
A sketchbook, in any case! If you are experienced: a folding easel, your own paints and brushes. Demos are mostly in oil — but everyone paints as they please. The detailed material list comes with the booking confirmation.
